Dario Amodei faces perhaps the biggest leadership test of his career after the Pentagon officially designated his company a supply-chain risk and said the two sides are done negotiating.

Investors had hoped Anthropic could find a compromise with the Defense Department. However, an internal memo written the prior week leaked Wednesday in which Amodei said the company was under attack because it hadn’t “given dictator-style praise” to President Trump. 

Amodei apologized for the comment and said Anthropic would go to court to fight the supply-chain risk designation, but he will likely have to do more damage control to co-exist with the administration moving forward.
